The Terracotta Garden At Lamphun looks like an ancient Khmer
The Terracotta Garden At Lamphun – a cafe in Lamphun that is designed like a stone castle. When you visit here, it feels like traveling back in time to the ancient Khmer period. The cafe features beautifully designed stone castle architecture and various ancient statues. The building is surrounded by beautiful gardens with various kinds of plants, creating a unique and unseen atmosphere unlike any other place. Enjoy delicious drinks and traditional Thai food while being surrounded by stunning ancient architecture.
The Terracotta Garden At Lamphun is located not far from Chiang Mai city and is easy to get to. The entrance alley to the cafe might seem a bit mysterious. You can park your car right in front of the shop. When you arrive, you’ll be amazed – it feels like visiting a historical park in Ayutthaya or Sukhothai.
The first thing that will catch your eye is the entrance arch, which is designed like a Khmer castle gate with beautiful carvings. During late morning, when soft sunlight shines on the arch’s front panel, it adds more beauty.
The cafe is spacious and located in a shady garden. Inside the garden, there are many terracotta sculptures including statues of deities and mythical creatures that look life like. There’s also a carefully designed artificial waterfall.
After walking around to enjoy the beauty and take photos, we ordered drinks and food. The drinks have unique Thai names that catch your attention. I tried the ‘Ros Sukhon’ (140 baht), which is a Thai-style mojito with sliced ginger added. It was very refreshing.
For food, serve both single-dish Thai meals and Western food like spaghetti and salads. I ordered Pad Thai (165 baht) and Khao Soi (165 baht), which is a chicken curry noodle dish. The food is served in beautiful Thai-style dishes. The taste is not spicy, so everyone can enjoy it.
Across from the restaurant, there’s a big, old building that you can go inside and take pictures of. The Terracotta Garden is a really unique café in Lamphun. Just visiting to see the beautiful buildings and art, or relaxing with a cup of drink, makes it worth the trip.
